Ingredients
  

  • For the Pastry
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 1 egg + 1 tsp water for egg wash
  • For the Cream Cheese Filling
  • 4 oz 113g cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • For the Strawberry Topping
  • cup strawberry jam
  • 4-5 fresh strawberries sliced
  • For Garnish Optional
  • powdered sugar
  • Honey or melted apricot jam for a glaze

Instructions
 

  • Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cut Heart Shapes: Unroll the puff pastry and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter (or a knife) to cut out 6-8 hearts. For half of the hearts, cut a smaller heart out of the center to create a border.
  • Assemble the Danishes: Place the whole hearts on the baking sheet. Brush the edges with egg wash, then place the heart borders on top. Lightly press down to help them stick together.
  • Add the Fillings: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread about 1 tbsp of cream cheese filling in the center of each heart. Spoon 1-2 tsp of strawberry jam on top of the cream cheese.
  • Bake: Brush the edges with egg wash. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  • Finish & Serve: Top with fresh strawberry slices. Optionally, brush with melted apricot jam or honey for shine.Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
